Grand Bahama has fabulous white sand beaches, a scorching sun and translucent seas all for a more reasonable price than any other island. What's even better is that it's only a 30 minute flight from Miami, which means more time on the beach and less time traveling.
Grand Bahama is the countries second city with a population of approximately 302,000 people.
Freeport and Lucaya were at one time merely a dream of Wallace Groves, a Virginia born businessman who saw potential in the island. His goal was to reproduce a smaller version of the popular South Beach, today, that dream is still being reached. The recent development of a number of new hotels, such as the Royal Oasis ( A Holiday Inn Sun Spree Resort) and the Sheraton at Our Lucaya Resort ( which comprises three of the Sheraton Brand hotels in one) illustrate the continued development of Grand Bahama.
The reviews of Grand Bahama are definitely mixed as is such with any holiday destination. Some discerning travelers who wish to live abroad have built homes in Grand Bahama, whilst others have decided not too, at the end of the day the deciding factor will always be personal preference.
